World Medical Laboratory Day (or Biomedical Laboratory Science) is celebrated on April 15th each year. This occasion was approved by the International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Science (IFBLS) to highlight the vital role of laboratory specialists in diagnosing diseases and supporting the healthcare system.

Under the patronage and presence of the Dean of the College of Allied Medical Sciences, Professor Dr. Suad Mohammed Al-Fadhli, the college held the World Medical Laboratory Day event with the participation of the General Administration of the Kuwait National Guard, the College's Medical Laboratories Department, and the students of the department on Tuesday, 10/5/2022.
At the outset, Dr. Suad Mohammed Al-Fadhli emphasized the importance and effectiveness of medical laboratories in various specialties, which have significantly contributed to the early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of many medical conditions, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. She explained that medical laboratory specialists play the most crucial and significant role in achieving scientific and medical advancements through conducting technical operations and scientific Dr. Suad Mohammed Al-Fadhli emphasized the importance and effectiveness of medical laboratories in various specialties, which have significantly contributed to the identification, diagnosis, early treatment, and prevention of many medical conditions, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, where laboratories played the main and most crucial role. She explained that medical laboratory specialists have the largest and most important role in achieving scientific and medical advancements through analyzes and research by conducting technical operations and scientific experiments within the laboratory.
And Dr. Dr. Al-Fadhli, in light of the State of Kuwait's interest in the quality of education and its belief in the importance of supporting and developing the medical system, the College of Health Sciences has focused on studying the medical laboratories specialization, monitoring the department's members from students and faculty, in addition to using the latest scientific technologies and research as well as advanced devices in the scientific department.
The college administration also ensures that students studying in the medical laboratory technology program combine theoretical knowledge with practical applications in various aspects related to medical laboratory technology. This includes qualifying and training students on how to handle all diagnostic devices and the correct steps for collecting and analyzing any sample to achieve an accurate diagnosis of diseases.
On the other hand, the Assistant Dean for Scientific Research Affairs, Dr. Dr. Dr. Rana Al-Awadi stated that the college is keen on ensuring that students specializing in medical laboratories combine theoretical knowledge with practical applications in various aspects related to medical laboratory technology, and on the importance of raising awareness about the role of medical laboratory technicians in serving the community.
At the conclusion of the event, the Dean of the College extended her heartfelt thanks to the General Administration of the Kuwaiti National Guard and the students of the Medical Laboratory Technology program for their effective participation in making the World Medical Laboratory Day a success.
