Faculty of Allied Health Sciences
Introduction
The Nursing Department at the College of Allied Health Sciences aims to prepare graduates with competency and highly qualified specialized nursing skills. This can enhance nursing care in the Kuwaiti health care system and serve our community.
The Department offers bachelor's degree program for four specializations in the field of nursing:
1- Bachelor of Science in Nursing, specializing in Obstetric Midway Nursing.
2- Bachelor of Science in Nursing, specializing in Forensic Nursing.
3- Bachelor of Science in Nursing with specialty in Critical Care Nursing.
4- Bachelor of Science in Nursing, specializing in Medical-Surgical Nursing.
The curriculum of these academic programs follows the US model but has also been modified to the unique needs of Kuwaiti as identified by the Ministry of Health. The courses in the first three years are considered joint courses which prepare the student for the important foundations in nursing, applied medical sciences, and research. In addition, the student receives practical and clinical training in governmental hospitals according to his/her majority. A graduate of the Nursing Department possesses the required skills and flexibility to meet the needs of the Ministry of Health. He / She also gain the academic competency to pursue postgraduate programs (master and doctorate degrees).
