Nursing

The Nursing Department at Kuwait University aims to prepare competent nursing professionals equipped with strong scientific knowledge and advanced clinical skills. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program follows a modern curriculum structure aligned with international standards and addresses Kuwait’s workforce needs. 

The program includes three years of core nursing education, followed by a fourth year of specialization in one of the following tracks:

  1. Nurse Midwifery.
  2. Forensic Nursing.
  3. Critical Care Nursing.
  4. Medical-Surgical Nursing.

 

1. Detailed Description of the Specialty

Core Curriculum (Years 1–3)

  • The foundational BSN program includes:
  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Microbiology
  • Nursing Foundations I & II
  • Health Assessment & Simulation Labs
  • Adult Health Nursing
  • Community Nursing
  • Childbearing and Pediatric Nursing
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing
  • Nursing Research & Evidence-Based Practice
  • Health Informatics

 

Specialization (Year 4)

Each specialty track provides advanced courses and clinical practice:

  • Midwifery: maternal physiology, gynecology, intrapartum care, postpartum & newborn care.
  • Forensic Nursing: victimology, injury investigation, sexual assault examination, legal and ethical frameworks.
  • Critical Care: advanced health assessment, emergency preparedness, acute care practice, advanced pharmacology.
  • Medical-Surgical: advanced nursing care for complex cases, leadership, health disparities, perioperative care.

All tracks include simulation, clinical rotations, and a capstone practicum.

  • Credit-hour system combining theory, laboratory sessions, and hospital-based clinical rotations.
  • Use of high-fidelity simulation labs to ensure safe and realistic practice.

The department provides supportive learning accommodations, such as:

  • Accessible classrooms, labs, and simulation centers.

  • Extended time in exams when needed.
