The Department of Audiology and Speech Sciences is one of the most important scientific departments in the College of Medical Sciences in Kuwait. The Department of Audiology and Speech Sciences was established in 2017 and has a degree program in Reading and Speech Therapy Sciences. The department focuses on graduating audiologists who play a crucial role in the early identification of hearing loss in infants, the assessment of hearing in people of all ages, and the prevention, identification, evaluation, and improvement of communication disorders that may result from hearing loss. In addition, audiologists assess the need for hearing aid amplification and evaluate, fit, and dispense hearing aids, cochlear implant programs, and other assistive listening devices. The department also trains speech therapists who assess, diagnose, treat, and prevent clinical disorders of speech and language, communication, articulation, and cognition.
